OUR PLACE
Rotorua was built in the early 1880s by the government, as a town for tourists visiting the ‘hot lakes’. Rotorua, home of bubbling mud pools, shooting geysers, natural hot springs as well as showcasing our amazing Māori culture.
CBK represents: where else can you cook your dinner on a volcanic stone while in the middle of a volcanic crater?
Meaning of the place name ‘Rotorua’: Roto: lake; rua: two, or second. It was the second lake to be discovered by Ihenga.
